Sr. Scientific Researcher, Chemical Biology and Peptide Biochemistry - Early Discovery Biochemistry

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Biologist to join a lab within the Early Discovery Biochemistry Department. The successful candidate will be engaged in a wide range of research projects in protein and peptide (bio)chemistry to elucidate novel cellular mechanisms and to develop new drug delivery strategies to advance our drug discovery pipeline. The position offers a unique opportunity to combine both, applied as well as basic research and is highly suited for candidates that have a strong interest in both of these aspects. Candidates with experiences in synthetic chemistry coupled with research interests in protein structure-function studies, with a particular emphasis on therapeutic target validation are highly encouraged to apply. Projects will involve collaborative interactions in a multidisciplinary group and across diverse biology areas that target proteins and pathways from oncology to infectious disease, as well as neuroscience. The position requires critical thinking, flexibility, multitasking, and the ability to learn new techniques.

Who You Are

PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or related field with a strong publication record in relevant journals. Five or more years of technical experience in the field of chemical biology focusing on protein biochemistry or peptide chemistry, especially macrocyclic peptides is critical. Candidates with prior experience in protein purification and enzymology are preferred.

The candidate is expected to be highly motivated, work independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting and to have a strong ability to tackle interdisciplinary problems as well as strong communication skills.
