Visiting Assistant Professor in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry
Washington College, a private liberal arts and sciences college of 1,450 undergraduates, located in Chestertown, MD, is seeking applicants for a full-time two-year visiting assistant professor position in chemistry starting in the fall of 2017. This position may be renewable after two years.
Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and who can teach General Chemistry, but current degree candidates are encouraged to apply. A commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives is highly desirable.
Washington College offers a bachelor’s degree program in Chemistry and is accredited by the American Chemical Society. The typical teaching load for this position will consist of the following courses per semester: one lecture of General Chemistry, one lecture of Organic Chemistry, and two laboratory sections. There is also the opportunity to design your own first-year seminar course (see the following website for more information: https://www.washcoll.edu/academics/writing/first-year-seminar/) on a two-year rotating basis and to teach a course related to your area of expertise. This position also offers the ability to mentor undergraduate research students as part of Washington College’s Senior Capstone Experience (SCE).
