Associate or Full Professor
The University of Arizona, College of Engineering seeks applications from established scientists for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates with a highly-visible, externally-funded research program in any area of biosensors research, development, and application are encouraged to apply. Extensive expertise and infrastructure in biosensor research and development exists at The University of Arizona, providing rich opportunities for the successful candidate to nucleate interdisciplinary collaborations and realize a vision for world class research. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the College of Engineering with the opportunity for one or more secondary appointments in related colleges such as Science and Medicine. This recruitment is a partnership with the BIO5 Institute. Established in 2001, the BIO5 Institute aims to harness the collaborative power of their five core disciplines – Agriculture, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Science – to find bold solutions to complex, biology-based challenges affecting humanity. The successful candidate is anticipated to have a secondary appointment as a Research Fellow in the BIO5 Institute and will dedicate 75% of their University effort to their research program for the duration of the appointment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to mentoring students, including those historically underrepresented in higher education. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to an environment that nurtures collaboration among associated disciplines in Biosensors across the College and the University. The successful candidate will also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these, and other ways, the faculty member will help to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering, science, or a related field and excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates must establish and maintain a vigorous and productive research program, and must have a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
·Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field.
·Candidates competitive for appointment to a tenured faculty position will have outstanding scholarly accomplishments as evidenced by a highly-visible, externally funded research program, a distinguished record of published research, and significant impact on the profession.
·The ability to participate in and lead collaborations with multidisciplinary teams of investigators is highly desired
