Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, seeks applications for a non-tenure-track One Year Assistant Professor position in its Chemistry Department. Founded in 1946, Utica College is a private comprehensive institution distinguished for its integration of liberal and professional study. Our dedicated faculty and staff have built a tradition of excellence in teaching and learning with particular emphasis on providing individual attention to students. The College enrolls approximately 3,700 students – approximately 2,700 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students. Utica College is located in an attractive, family-friendly area of upstate New York near the foothills of the Adirondacks offering easy access to a broad variety of recreational and cultural attractions.

Candidates must have or be near a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry by August 2017 and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The successful candidate will teach four lectures or laboratories each semester in our General Chemistry sequence and our Liberal Arts Chemistry courses. There is an opportunity to teach upper level courses in the area of the candidate’s expertise, biochemistry, or physical chemistry, and to conduct research projects involving undergraduates.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utica College is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS), and grants ACS certified degrees. We are well-equipped with modern instrumentation and recently renovated laboratory spaces, and offer start-up funds to support faculty research.   Recent acquisitions in the last two years include a 400 MHz NMR and a completely remodeled modern synthesis laboratory.
