The Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a faculty candidate for its campus in Qatar.  The preferred starting date is January 2018.  The appointment will be in the Teaching Track.  While the principal teaching obligation is on our campus in Qatar, it is hoped that the candidate would spend several weeks on our main campus in Pittsburgh during the fall 2017 semester and then relocate to Qatar in January 2018.  Our campus in Qatar is located in Education City, Doha, along with campuses from several other major US institutions. The responsibilities include: 70% Teaching, 15% Curriculum development and service related activities, and 15% independent research principally with undergraduate students in biological sciences. Initial teaching responsibilities will involve teaching organic chemistry lecture courses, upper level electives at the interface of chemistry and biological sciences and non-majors courses.  Future teaching responsibilities may involve general chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, as well as an introductory organic chemistry laboratory.  Strong collaboration with faculty teaching these courses on the Pittsburgh campus is expected. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, the implementation of effective teaching methodologies, and the ability to work as part of a team in a culturally diverse environment.  Please apply online using ByCommittee using the following URL: apply.interfolio.com/42450
