The University of California, San Diego, Department of Radiology, seeks to hire an MRI scientist at the postdoctoral level to work in a new preclinical and translational imaging program at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine (www.sanfordconsortium.org). The Sanford Consortium has built a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art multimodal preclinical imaging equipment and supportive infrastructure, with the mission of supporting research in stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine. Imaging resources include a Bruker 11.7 T horizontal-bore MRI system, Siemens Inveon PET-SPECT-CT imager, PerkinElmer IVIS Spectrum optical imager, and a VisualSonics Vevo 2100 ultrasound imager. Clinical GE 3 T MRI scanners for research and development are accessible at UCSD. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D in physics, chemistry, engineering, or related disciplines. MRI/MRS experience is desirable, as well as a strong track record of publications in internationally recognized journals. Experience in the development and optimization of pulse sequences, particularly using the Bruker and/or GE platform, as well as experience with image processing algorithms and strong computational/analytic skills are desired. Candidates must have a willingness to participate in several ongoing research projects involving the development of cell tracking probes and methods using multi-nuclear MR in both animals and humans and collaborate with biologically-oriented investigators.

Interested candidates should send a CV to Dr. Eric T. Ahrens, eta@ucsd.edu, Department of Radiology, University of California, San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive, mail code 0695, La Jolla, CA, 92093-0695.
