Chemistry Lab Coordinator and Stockroom Manager
The Center for Natural Sciences at Goucher College invites applications for a chemistry laboratory coordinator and stockroom manager for a full-time appointment to begin Fall semester 2017. This is an ongoing, ten-month position. The laboratory support duties for this position are in our newly designed studio general chemistry course, where we expect the lab coordinator to be responsible for laboratory preparation and support introductory and advanced chemistry labs. Additionally, the lab coordinator will teach as many as two lab sections on days when an experiment is scheduled, and help with student grading. Related duties include ordering and maintaining supplies, equipment and materials, maintaining a chemical inventory, preparation of chemical waste for disposal, and the possible supervision of student workers.
The successful applicant will be able to work both independently and as part of a team and should have strong written and oral communication skills. A broad knowledge of chemistry and proficiency in a diverse array of laboratory skills is essential. Qualified candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a very closely related field, and a demonstrated interest in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience. The successful candidate will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
