Assistant Professor - Organic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Long Island University (LIU - Post) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Organic Synthesis with a flexible starting date, beginning as early as Spring 2018. A PhD in Organic Chemistry is a plus, but strong candidates expecting a PhD in Organic Synthesis will be considered. The ideal candidate will have a research program that includes undergraduate participation and will be capable of fostering collaboration with faculty in other areas such as Biology, Forensic Science, and Health Sciences. We look for chemists with a proven publication record and teaching experience in entry level Organic Chemistry Lectures and Labs. The ideal candidate will teach Organic Chemistry, as well as Organic and Biological Chemistry for students of Health Professions. Candidates will be evaluated on their academic background, communication skills, potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly and publication activity, service to college, and ability to secure external funding. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a description of planned research with estimated start-up costs, and at least three reference letters, addressing teaching abilities and potential for publications.
