The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-related position in experimental physical chemistry to begin Fall 2018 or later at the anticipated rank of Assistant Professor. A PhD is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred.
We seek individuals studying problems of fundamental importance to experimental physical chemistry, which may also be applied uniquely to advance related chemical disciplines. We are especially interested in scholars who will enhance the department’s existing strengths in biophysical chemistry, materials related physical chemistry, spectroscopy, statistical mechanics and quantum chemistry. The potential for establishing a vigorous independent research program in experimental physical chemistry and active participation and excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be the most important criteria for selection. In addition to membership in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue research in a variety of interdisciplinary institutes (see https://chemistry.uoregon.edu/research/institutes/).
