Two Faculty Positions
The Union College Department of Chemistry invites applications for two faculty positions beginning in Fall 2018.
PHYSICAL CHEMIST. The candidate for this tenure-track position (pending final administrative approval) will have teaching responsibilities principally in physical chemistry and general chemistry courses. The candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, biophysical chemistry or a related sub-discipline, postdoctoral experience and the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. Candidates whose research program would contribute to the College’s ongoing interdisciplinary activities are especially welcome. LECTURER/INSTRUMENTATION SPECIALIST. The candidate for this non-tenure-track position should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field, significant breadth of experience with chemical instrumentation, and the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching responsibilities will be principally in laboratory courses in introductory chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemical instrumentation. Co-curricular responsibilities include maintenance of the department’s instrumentation for teaching and research, training of faculty members and students in the use of instrumentation, and working with other faculty to develop new instrumentation-based experiments for laboratory courses.
