Using engineering and related technical expertise, works with the customer to define facility system requirements that enable Program function and performance. Serves as a point of contact for customers within assigned areas. Identifies and prioritizes site stewardship opportunities, works funding issues, and champions into executable projects. Responsible for leading efforts to maintain buildings and associated systems in a condition fit for use, facilitate modifications in support of future Program use, and managing the organization’s response to working complex, off-normal events. Coordinates efforts related to maintenance and operations of the facilities within assigned areas, including building operations, project coordination, and managing of the design basis for the site.


•Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or closely related field such as architecture.

•Working knowledge and understanding of building codes and standards.

•Ability to make decisions requiring sound scientific or engineering judgment.

•Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion.

•Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

•Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

•Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance.


•Pursuit / completion of an advanced technical degree in engineering or closely related field.

•Knowledge / experience in facilities design and construction industry best practices and standards.

•Demonstrated computer skills including experience with MS Office and AutoCAD.

•Ability to obtain Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) certification or equivalent.

•Experience in Facilities Operation and Maintenance in a laboratory / office environment

Department Description:

The Customer Operations Department is responsible for providing Operational, Systems, and Maintenance Engineering solutions and support throughout the CA site with intentional alignment to Mission Areas and Site Planning. The team coordinates planned reliability-based operations, provides maintenance support, and manages all service and utility contracts. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
