The Université de Sherbrooke invites applications for a full time tenure-track professor position in the Département de chimie, Faculté des sciences.

The research program of the candidate should complement the current strategic orientations of the department (Environmental, Materials, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry). Applications presenting research programs that display complementarity and synergy with current research activities in the Department will receive a particular attention.
 

The department of chemistry at Université de Sherbrooke offers an exceptional environment for research and teaching, welcomes a total of more than 160 B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, an internationally recognized faculty of 14 professors and extensive research facilities at the cutting edge of technology. Faculty members at the department of Chemistry have been awarded research chairs, fellowships and grants that testify to the quality of their research in bio-geochemistry, green chemistry and catalysis, self-assembled and functional materials, electrochemistry, photonics and molecular modelling as well as organic, organometallic and inorganic synthesis.

The department of chemistry has recently been completely renovated (2015) to offer modern research and teaching laboratories. Researchers at the department of chemistry enjoy cutting edge infrastructure and services for analytical chemistry, materials, optical and photonics characterization, as well as high performance computational infrastructure (Mammouth, amongst the most powerful supercomputer in Canada). Our researchers belong to various centers of excellence and strategic networks enabling access to the full array of resources available in Québec. REQUIREMENTS

- Ph. D. in Chemistry or in a related field.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Exceptional skills for research to develop an innovative, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program.
- Strong pedagogical skills and enthusiasm for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Potential and desire to develop interactions with other professors in the department of chemistry and the faculty of science.
- The ability to teach in French or to rapidly achieve this ability.
