The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University Dominguez Hills, seeks applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally-funded interdisciplinary research program in collaboration with the members in the department or other research institutions, and to contribute to high quality professional and undergraduate education. Teaching may include evening and day courses. Expertise in the area of Physical (including computational chemist), Biophysics or Biochemistry or Synthetic organic chemistry is preferred.


Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses such as general chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry or other courses which depends on the department’s need. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated research excellence and a commitment to high quality teaching. The candidate will also have responsibilities supervising undergraduate student research, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work and undergraduate student academic advising.

The Ideal Candidate

In addition to teaching duties, undergraduate student advising and committee responsibilities, The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in computational chemistry with expertise in drug discovery enabling technologies in the area of anti-cancer research, or modification of peptide and organic molecules or organic synthesis, or a protein chemistry background with expertise in the protein expression and purification.


 A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field and graduate training in Physical chemistry, Biochemistry or Organic chemistry is required. As well as, a record of or potential for effective teaching in general chemistry and physical chemistry or Organic chemistry or Biochemistry advising and mentoring students from diverse educational and cultural background
