Postdoctoral Research Associate
The Roy Laboratory in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy is currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who has a strong background in total synthesis, synthetic methods development, and/or medicinal chemistry and would like to diversify their skill sets into drug discovery and chemical biology programs. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable up to two years contingent on continued funding and satisfactory performance.
Typical responsibilities will involve performing research to develop new synthetic methods with applications in chemical biology or developing chemotherapeutic agents against drug-resistant infectious diseases. Interpret results and use them to drive and design subsequent experiments. Maintain detailed notes and record all research work via an electronic notebook system. Report data in team meetings and in meetings with collaborators (including those outside of the University of Mississippi). Participate in laboratory upkeep, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and safety activities. Contribute to the preparation and submission of reports and publications related to research. Report results at external scientific meetings.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry by the time of the appointment and a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
