The Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The position is anticipated to emphasize research in the development of novel methodologies directed toward probing spatial and temporal aspects of chemical and biochemical communication and could be affiliated with the Nebraska Center for Integrated Biomolecular Communication (http://ncibc.unl.edu/). Possible areas include the development of novel methodologies such as sensors or probes of cellular functions or cell-cell interactions based on bioorthogonal chemistry, activity-based proteomics, single molecule spectroscopy, nucleic acid chemistry or carbohydrate chemistry. The faculty member filling the proposed position should demonstrate the capability of teaching in general chemistry and/or lower division organic chemistry. Additional courses could include physical, bioanalytical, biophysical, or bioorganic chemistry at graduate and undergraduate levels, depending on the specific expertise of the individual hired. The anticipated start date is August 2018.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in chemistry or biochemistry or allied discipline. Preferred qualifications include a strong record of scholarly activity, the potential for developing an externally funded research program in novel methodologies, and the capability of teaching in general chemistry and/or lower division organic chemistry.
