Chemistry Resource Coordinator
The Chemistry Resource Coordinator manages the chemistry department stockroom and associated spaces, including purchasing, inventory management, and handling of chemicals and supplies; organizes inventory, routine maintenance, and repair of equipment; supervises student workers; and provides support for teaching and research spaces in the chemistry department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as purchasing agent for the Chemistry Department.
Prepare bid lists for general chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and negotiate with vendors to encourage maximum cost savings.
Manage the purchasing, receiving, distribution, and record keeping of chemicals and equipment for all teaching and research activities in chemistry.
Maintain detailed records of purchase and billing transactions; help manage chemistry department accounts and credit card statements.
Maintain complete computerized chemical inventory on the Vertere system for the chemistry and physics departments.
Maintain a complete record of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all students and faculty using chemicals in the Science Center.
Manage the storage of gas cylinders in the Science Center.
Organize the routine inventory and checking of equipment in teaching and research spaces; handle routine maintenance and repair of equipment; coordinate these efforts with the responsible chemistry department faculty member.
Maintain records for proper accounting for grant and departmental funds.
Maintain the reverse osmosis water system for the Science Center.
Basic background in chemistry and interest in science; training in safe handling of chemicals and biohazards.
Basic knowledge of scientific materials, chemicals and equipment.
Demonstrated organizational, computer, and professional communication skills.
