Lakehead University invites applications for a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in the area of Material Science and Environmental Chemistry. This tenure-track appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will have the demonstrated competence to lead an internationally recognized independent program of research. The research program should be relevant to green sustainable technologies in the context of increasingly critical energy, environmental, as well as climate change challenges.
The successful candidate will be given a minimal teaching load in order to dedicate the majority of their time to research, be provided with a generous start-up grant, modern laboratory facilities and access to new research equipment. Candidates may have a background in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics or a related field.

Lakehead University requires the candidate to have a completed PhD, an innovative and original research program, and a high potential to attract external funding and collaborations within and outside of Lakehead University. A demonstrated ability to teach effectively, supervise undergraduate and graduate students and work collegially in interdisciplinary teams is also expected. The successful candidate will enhance interdisciplinary research and training and attract, develop and retain excellent students and future researchers. The successful candidate will have access to new research equipment, including a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and an X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) in our newly constructed Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering and Sciences (CASES) building scheduled for completion in April 2018. In addition, the successful candidate will have access to a new Cyclotron and Radiochemistry research facility at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC).
