Scientific Instrumentation Specialist
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Toledo invites applications for the position of a Scientific Instrumentation Specialist. This position is a full-time 40 hr/week position. Responsibilities include user training and support, maintenance, repair and interpretation of scientific data from a range of sophisticated scientific instruments.
Applicants with at least 2 years of experience with advanced analytical instrumentation are encouraged to apply. Specifically, detailed understanding of X-ray diffractometers and electron microscopes is required. Knowledge in mass-spectrometry and thermal analysis, and experience in customer service, is a plus. Ability to adjust to new developments/instruments and a strong desire to support research and teaching is essential. Duties include analysis of samples from clients and assistance in preparing proposal for instrument upgrades. A Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, engineering or a closely related field is required. The successful candidate will begin their appointment May 2018.
