Description

Silicon Therapeutics is an integrated computational drug discovery company focused on developing novel medicines for diseases with targets that are currently considered to be challenging for traditional approaches. Our INSITE platform closely represents the real dynamical nature of targets using accurate all-atom simulations, enabling us to design and optimize compounds for targets that were previously considered "undruggable." Our science, our team, and our mission are focused on applying advanced computational technologies to build and progress a pipeline of innovative medicines for patients. Silicon Therapeutics is headquartered in Boston, MA, USA with offices in Shanghai, China. Learn more at www.silicontx.com

Job Summary

Our science team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated synthetic chemist able to function in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the chemistry laboratory team who will work with the chemistry program leads on synthetic route development, compound preparation, and methods optimization. The candidate will also be responsible for optimizing the syntheses of key compounds for multi-gram and larger scale quantities in support of critical in vivo and candidate nomination studies for internal projects.

Requirements

Your Role

  • Design, plan and execute multi-step organic syntheses, purification and characterization of small molecules
  • Troubleshoot and optimize reactions critical to the synthesis of novel analogues and lead compounds
  • Synthesize advanced compounds on multi-gram or larger scales with a high degree of purity under strict timelines
  • Stay abreast of new developments in the synthetic chemistry literature and identify potential applications, which can positively impact the progress of a program
  • Operate, train others to operate, and help maintain multiple pieces of instrumentation and lab infrastructure including, but not limited to: HPLC, LCMS, vacuum pumps, rotary evaporators, automated chromatography system, and analytical chemistry instrumentation
  • Function as a member of the chemistry group by aiding in the preparation of patents, publications, and project planning
  • Efficiently document experiments and data in an electronic laboratory notebook and concisely presenting results to colleagues; characterize synthesized compounds
  • Comply with all laboratory regulations and safety standards set forth by the company and associated regulatory bodies

Who You Are

  • PhD in chemistry with 0-2 years of relevant industrial and/or post-doctoral experience; Masters-level candidates in the same field with appreciable industry experience will also be considered
  • Experienced with both multi-step, complex molecule synthesis and development of novel synthetic methods; experience with the nucleotide and or carbohydrate chemistry is a plus but not required
  • Demonstrated creativity in synthetic chemistry as documented in peer-reviewed publications
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of modern organic chemistry reactions, mechanisms and techniques
  • Expert in small molecule structural analysis including application of 2D-NMR techniques
  • Proficient with Reaxys, Chemdraw and other chemistry-related software
  • Ability to work independently and respond to a fast-paced, team environment
  • Exhibits excellent written and oral communication skills
