Postdoctoral Position in Natural Products Biochemistry

USDA-ARS, Peoria, Illinois

We are searching for a highly-motivated postdoctoral associate with research experience in the areas of isolation, detection, and characterization of low molecular weight natural products. The associate will conduct research aimed at understanding the occurrence and distribution of secondary metabolites of fungi with the goal of supporting existing efforts to improve the design of materials and methods for detecting mycotoxins and for their remediation. Currently, scientists in the Mycotoxin Prevention and Applied Microbiology Research Unit (MPM) use a variety of techniques including advanced biosensors and mass spectrometry. MPM scientists, at the USDA-ARS in Peoria, have an outstanding record of discovery and publication regarding fungal biology, chemistry, and evolution.  Thus, opportunities exist for the postdoc to engage in these and other areas of interest.
