Postdoctoral Radiochemist

The University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR) is a campus research center which operates under the Office of Research. The internationally recognized MURR is a 10-megawatt nuclear research facility and the most powerful research reactor located on a US university campus. In addition to its many attributes in radioisotope production for therapeutics and diagnostics in medicine, MURR is home to a rapidly growing PET radiochemistry facility and cyclotron.  This facility is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to work with the PET Radiochemistry team on the design of new radiotracers for imaging.

Job Description

This postdoctoral position is available for immediate filling and will be for a one year term, renewable for a second year, based upon performance, funding and a mutual desire to continue the appointment. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, quantitative, and communication skills, and the ability to think creatively about research. Responsibilities will include organic synthesis, as well as complex organic radiochemistry in the design and preparation of signature PET radiolabeled molecular probes for bioimaging across a broad scope of disciplines including animal research, precision medicine, and plant biology. The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States through the period of employment. 

Position Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in medicinal, or organic chemistry, or a related field with extensive experience in small-molecule organic synthesis and experience in the use of analytical instrumentation (including NMR, HPLC, GC, UV). Applicant must demonstrate a track record of independent research through peer-reviewed publications. This position prefers a candidate who has abundant experience and knowledge of C-11 and F-18 radiochemistry.  Experience and knowledge in biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology are also preferred.
