About this Job:
Manage and direct global distribution of Syngenta’s Greensboro (GSO) inventory of radiolabelled substances and non-radiolabelled metabolite reference standards, leadership of the Syngenta Greensboro Site Radiation Safety processes, supervision of the site’s Product Safety sample management team, support and oversight of Product Safety infrastructure maintenance and capital procurement projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of the Syngenta Greensboro (GSO) inventory of radiolabelled test substances and non-radiolabelled reference substances using internal databases
• Coordinate Product Safety radioactive and non-radioactive chemical shipping to and from the Greensboro site in compliance with IATA / DOT regulations, arrange transport logistics, and maintain annual required certifications in support of this function
• Manage the Greensboro Site Radiation Safety Program including licensing details, dose limits and control monitoring programs, records maintenance, hazardous waste accumulation and disposal, provision of radiation safety training programs and serving in the regulatory role as site Radiation Safety Officer
• Direct GLP characterization studies for test and reference substances in support of inventory functions
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Product Safety Technical Platforms to forecast and manage demands for test and reference substances
• Serve as the point of contact for Product Safety staff for the procurement of capital equipment and facilities upgrades, coordinating the creation and management of such purchasing projects in accordance with Syngenta’s global processes
• Engage regularly with Facilities, Operations, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) functions at GSO to promote alignment and awareness of plans and policies
• Supervise two contract employees performing sample homogenization, packaging and storage, workflow management and sample labelling activities    Qualifications • BS +3 years or MS in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry and/or similar qualifications in technical, scientific or operational areas
• Strong background in organic and analytical chemistry
• Knowledge of R&D organization and processes and business systems
• Knowledge of lab safety in relation to use of radiolabelled isotopes desirable
• Requires knowledge of organic chemistry and strong analytical chemistry background with experience in handling both standard and radiolabelled chemicals
• Must be able to deal effectively with ambiguity and deploy sound judgement in determining business value of potential opportunities
• Excellent networking skills internally and externally and ability to motivate and influence people without line management responsibility
• Drives for simplicity, effectiveness and value contribution
Critical experience: 
• Work experience with the safe use/management of radioactive substances preferred
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of colleagues
• Proficiency in chemical nomenclature and rendering of chemical structures
• Relevant experience supporting industrial processes and logistics desirable
• General management experience (incl. personnel management)
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage a small team performing sample processing or preservation work
Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:
• Ability to multitask and work under compressed timelines
• A well-developed understanding of EPA GLP compliance requirements desirable
• Demonstrated experience of people leadership and working in a successful team
• Ability to understand complexity and convert into fit for purpose solutions
• Experience working successfully in international and multidisciplinary project team environment
• Demonstrated rigor in maintaining high quality compliance documentation

• Must be able to address operations and facilities issues that could arise at any time
• Must be able and comfortable lifting approximately 60 pounds
• Limited domestic travel of less than 5%
