Expectations of the job:

Accountable for pilot scale production and SOP creation for Biopesticides covering our Fungicide, Insecticide, Nematicide and Herbicide product development programs

Responsible for developing all aspects related to Biopesticide Active ingredient (AI) production including:

  • Provide process expertise to development programs in various stages and engage in pilot scale production
  • Possess in-depth process knowledge and act as an expert in understanding manufacturing capabilities and limitations. Demonstrate familiarity with manufacturing process and operations and its quality/compliance requirement
  • Technical lead for process transfer from development to commercial manufacturing plant.
  • Provide technical support including on floor support during biopesticide production; act as main point of contact for troubleshooting production
  • Identify and manage contract manufacturers to produce active ingredient from pilot through pre-production scales
  • Lead the design and build-out of pilot plant infrastructure and capabilities
  • Be willing to travel 25% or more, as needed

Required knowledge/skills

  • Degree in Chemical or Biochemical engineering - PhD with 5-10 years experience or MS and 8-15 years experience in fermentation manufacturing scale up
  • Experience with fermentation in 400L+ fermentor, as well as upstream and downstream processing
  • Direct experience with successful tech transfer to production scale
  • Demonstrated ability to succinctly convey complex issues and regulations to internal teams and staff, especially with both Research and Commercial teams
  • A successful candidate must be highly collaborative, communicative and transparent. In addition the candidate must understand of the importance of meeting deadlines
