Tenure Track Assistant Professor Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering & Science invites applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Chemistry or Biochemistry beginning in Fall 2019. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry. The successful candidate will be an effective and enthusiastic teacher, mentor, and advisor, with a commitment to supporting a diverse population of undergraduate students. The candidate will have an ongoing program of scholarship including pursuing external funding, disseminating results in refereed publications and conferences, and engaging students. The candidate should have a strong interest in implementing active teaching strategies, collaborating with faculty from other disciplines. and be effective, enthusiastic teachers-scholar at the undergraduate level with emphasis on Biochemistry.
The small classes and close collegial relationships make teaching at Detroit Mercy exciting and rewarding. The College’s faculty form a vibrant community of teaching scholars with a strong focus on professional and academic mentorship of students. We are particularly interested in candidates who would contribute to our efforts to provide support and opportunities for historically underrepresented students to pursue research careers in health-related areas. These efforts are currently being supported by a BUILD grant from the National Institutes of Health.
