The Department of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions for experimental scientists, one in the area of Organic and the other in Physical Chemistry/Analytical. Application Process: The Department of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professors in Experimental Chemistry, one in the area of Organic and the other in Physical/Analytical. Research Plan: The candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized and externally funded program in either Organic or Physical/Analytical chemistry. The research plan should describe your research experience, ideas, implementation or approach. The plan can range from a well-developed research proposal to a cohesive collection of research ideas. However, the plan should have sufficient detail to give confidence to the Faculty that you will be successful in developing a nationally recognized and externally funded research program and justify the expenditure of startup funds. The research component should focus on graduate students, but also provide opportunities for undergraduate research.
Teaching: The candidates are expected to teach both Graduate and Undergraduate classes with a course load equal to that of other research active Faculty in the department. Candidates will be expected to support the learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods; and demonstrate a commitment to engaging communities underrepresented in the academy. For the Organic position, undergraduate classes include Organic Chemistry and its associated laboratory component. For the Physical/Analytical Chemistry position, the ability to teach within the Physical Chemistry subdivision is preferred, including undergraduate Physical Chemistry and its associated laboratory class. Graduate courses include both core courses in our Graduate program and special topics.
