The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences invites applications for a
PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR MACROMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY WITH A FOCUS ON FUNCTIONAL MACROMO-LECULAR CHEMISTRY
commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2287
The successful candidate is expected to have a proven international record and to teach and conduct research in macromolecular chemistry. Teaching responsibilities include seminars and lectures in the BSc and MSc programs for chemistry and the nanosciences (e.g., polymer chem-istry, soft matter) and participation in joint courses (introductory chemistry in BSc programs) with the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH).
Research expertise is expected to include a current field of synthetic macromolecular chemistry (e.g., functional polymers in solutions, as particles or on surfaces), preferably in an applied con-text, e.g., potential industrial applications. Research activities should complement the Depart-ment of Chemistry’s major focus on material and nanochemistry. Research activities should also permit cooperation with scientists in the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Mathe-matics, Informatics and Natural Science, the Hamburg University of Technology, and other non-university based research institutes such as the Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht (HGZ) and DESY. Participation in cooperative research initiatives run by the Department of Chemistry and the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Science is desired.
Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.
Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.
Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives. Applicants should outline their proposed scientific direction for this position in a research proposal.
Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of man-agement and human resources.
In accordance with Section 14 subsection 3 sentence 3 HmbHG, Universität Hamburg seeks to increase the proportion of women in teaching and research and encourages female academics to apply.
Qualified disabled candidates or applicants with equivalent status receive preference in the application process.
For further information, please contact Prof. Gerrit A. Luinstra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Application documents should also indicate the area of specialization and outline the proposed scientific direction in a research proposal (approximately four pages). This proposal should also outline potential contributions to key research areas and areas of cooperation within the De-partment. We also ask candidates to provide details of their teaching experience and outline courses they plan to develop/teach in the future in a short teaching proposal. Please include results from teaching evaluations.
The application deadline is 08. November 2018. Please submit your application, including CV, list of publications, teaching experience, external funding record, copies of certification and documents, three representative publications and the reference number 2287 preferably by email in a single PDF file to Bewerbungen@verw.uni-hamburg.de or to:
