The Department of Chemistry at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Introductory Chemistry beginning Fall 2019. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. It will be expected that the person appointed to this role will demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.
Responsibilities Include: Contribution to the department in the form of teaching undergraduate courses in General Chemistry (lectures and labs) and teaching other labs (Organic Chemistry) as needed. Additional responsibilities include student advisement, and service to the department and college. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in chemistry is required (degrees in related fields may be considered as deemed appropriate). Candidates must provide evidence of effective lecture and lab teaching at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry preferred (degrees in related disciplines may be considered as deemed appropriate). Preference will be given to a candidate with lecturing experience in introductory chemistry and/or organic chemistry.
