The successful applicant will join a highly motivated medicinal chemistry team within Research & Development where the focus will be on progressing hit series through to candidate selection. The successful applicant will have opportunities to design and implement insightful and creative medicinal chemistry strategies to fulfill these objectives. The applicant will be expected to develop a deep expertise in lead optimization tactics including state-of-the-art synthesis, purification, and computational tools.

Basic qualifications:


  • PhD in Chemistry
  • Expertise in state-of-the art synthetic organic chemistry
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Record demonstrating excellence in chemistry (e.g. publications, patents, presentations)

Preferred qualifications (in addition to basic qualifications):


  • 1-5 years postdoctoral experience and/or industrial experience

  • A basic understanding of medicinal chemistry concepts

We are seeking a highly motivated organic chemist to join our medicinal chemistry group in Collegeville, PA.  Our group partners with program teams across GSK’s therapy area units to deliver high quality small molecule starting points for lead optimization and progress them to clinical candidates.  The successful applicant will become fluent medicinal chemistry and lead optimization tactics, while operating independently as a highly productive and knowledgeable synthetic chemist.  The ability to communicate effectively is essential as the chemist will be interfacing with the multiple business partners in drug discovery.
