Research Assistant Professor
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Texas Tech University invites applications for a non- tenured track position at the Research Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely related field with a strong publication record in organic and/or organometallic chemistry, preferably with postdoctoral experience. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a nationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations and perform internal and professional service at a level commensurate with rank. The successful candidate for this position will be part of a major initiative at Texas Tech University that was launched two years ago to expand and enhance current research capabilities of the institution. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. A demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse student populations and experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is among the top academic units at TTU in terms of research funding, publications and graduate education. Texas Tech University has a Carnegie R1: Highest Research Activity classification. It has an enrollment of more than 37,000 students, and is one of the major, state-supported, multidisciplinary universities in the Southwest. Texas Tech University recently surpassed the Hispanic student population threshold necessary for designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

Employment contracts will be on an annual basis and contingent upon positive annual evaluations. Funding for this position is available for one (1) year, with the possibility for renewal based upon availability of funds. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported in seeking external funding for salary support.
