Assistant Professor Biochemistry or Bioanalytical Chemistry tenure track
The Department of Chemistry at Northern Michigan University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Chemistry. This is a campus-based, tenure-track position to begin in August 2018.
The Department of Chemistry has twelve full-time faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in ACS-certified chemistry, biochemistry, forensic biochemistry, and medicinal plant chemistry. Duties and Responsibilities: This person will help staff the biochemistry offerings at NMU. Typical workload includes a combination of upper-level labs and lectures. Depending on experience and interest, there is opportunity to take an active role in the forensic chemistry course, upper level instrumentation courses, or nursing chemistry course. The faculty member is also expected to establish a research program in biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or forensic chemistry that would actively involve undergraduates. Appropriate levels of departmental and university service is a part of the position’s responsibilities. Depending on interests and expertise, there is also opportunity to take on the role of director of the NMU forensic program.
Minimum Qualifications: The ideal applicant must have an earned Ph.D in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely related field. Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is expected. Postdoctoral experience prefered
