Organic Chemistry Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty Position
The Department of Chemistry at Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in Synthetic Organic Chemistry starting August 19, 2019. The Department of Chemistry offers B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a M.S. degree in Chemistry, and a Ph.D. degree in Clinical-Bioanalytical Chemistry, which is jointly administered with the Cleveland Clinic. The Ph.D. program in Clinical Chemistry accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field; post-doctoral or equivalent research experience in qualifying fields.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related area. A record of publication in appropriate peer-reviewed journals, experience/success in obtaining grants; good communication and interpersonal skills; evidence of ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community; potential to collaborate with PIs in the department, university, and community partnerships at the Cleveland Clinic/CWRU. Potential for success in obtaining external funding; and documented teaching experience/excellence in teaching undergraduate chemistry courses and graduate courses in organic chemistry. Duties: The faculty member hired is expected to establish an independent, externally-funded research program; supervise graduate and undergraduate research; teach undergraduate chemistry and graduate courses in organic chemistry; enrich the research components of the doctoral clinical chemistry program; and provide departmental and university service.
