Program Manager, Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies & Institute for Collaborative Biotechnologie
The Physical Sciences Directorate of the Army Research Office (ARO) in Research Triangle Park, NC, is actively looking to fill a position of program manager to lead an innovative, high pay-off, basic research effort managing and overseeing the Army's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies (ISN) and Institute for Collaborative Biotechnologies (ICB) programs. The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, one of the Biological Sciences, or Materials Science with educational training and/or experience in conducting research in these areas. Program management experience in these areas is desired, but not essential. Specific duties include conducting reviews, managing budgets and making budget recommendations to Army leadership, and setting research directions for programs. Conducts workshops, conferences and symposia related to soldier needs and ISN and ICB capabilities. As the Army's advocate for research in the ISN and ICB, is cognizant of the status of research programs at Army laboratories and centers and maintains awareness of developments within relevant disciplines. Publicizes Army research and technology needs, and evaluates status of research initiatives with potentially high benefit. Ensures ISN and ICB are innovative, unique, cohesive, coordinated, and Army relevant. The research breakthroughs derived from these programs will ultimately lead to the development of critical new technologies and capabilities to empower future U.S. Army soldiers.

The applicant selected must consent to background investigation for security clearance (up to Secret) and confidential financial disclosure. Duties of the position require some travel.
This is a full time position, appointed for an initial term of up to 6 years (with potential for renewal).

Salary: $76,015- $163,335 (GS 12, step 1 through GS 15, step 10 equivalent) as determined by qualifications and experience. Department of the Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
