The Chemistry Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, anticipated to begin August 2019. The department seeks outstanding candidates with research focus in organic chemistry, broadly defined. Candidates are expected to establish a vigorous independent research program, excel in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and provide service to the university, college, department, and professional organizations. Applicants should have a strong record of published, peer-reviewed research in the broad area of organic chemistry.

Current research strengths within the Chemistry Department include materials chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry, photonics, and forensic chemistry. At UCF we value interdisciplinary and collaborative endeavors and offer interdepartmental joint appointments and UCF faculty cluster hiring (e.g., Rational Design of Catalysts for Energy Applications and Propulsion Cluster; Sustainable Coastal Systems Cluster). Our department faculty collaborate within the College of Sciences and also with the College of Optics and Photonics, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Medicine, and the College of Community Innovation and Education, as well as with the Florida Solar Energy Center, the NanoScience Technology Center, and the National Center for Forensic Science. UCF is host to state-of-the-art characterization facilities in support of both molecular and materials chemistry. Additionally, the UCF Chemistry Department has state-of-the-art NMR facilities with plans to expand to 600 MHz in the near future.

The University of Central Florida, located in Orlando, is a leading, fast-growing, research-intensive metropolitan university with a diverse student body of more than 68,000 students.
