The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory seeks a full-time Staff Associate to manage the Trace Organic Lab including supervising and conducting sample preparation. The Staff Associate will train and supervise the lab activities of multiple laboratory users. Will prepare and analyze samples using three mass spectrometers. Will develop methods for analyzing organic pollutants in both environmental and biological samples. Support complex field programs (e.g., air, water, and biological samplings). Support proposal, manuscript and progress report preparation.

Candidates should have Bachelor’s degree in Geochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related fields and 4 or more years of research experience in these specialties required. Experience in measuring organic pollutants in biological samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) is a plus. Sufficient knowledge using Excel or R Project to analyze lab and field data is required. Must be able to conduct field research for up to one month per year.

Appointments are made on a fiscal year basis and are eligible for renewal each July 1, contingent upon performance and funding.
