The Department of Chemistry at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-line faculty appointment beginning in August 2019 for a renewable three-year term.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. (in Chemistry, Chemical Education or a closely related discipline), prior teaching experience, and a genuine interest in effectively communicating science to a diverse population of undergraduate students.

Responsibilities include the development and delivery of new courses tailored for non-science majors that both complement and expand the department’s capacity to fulfill its broad teaching mission. The successful applicant is expected to also pursue professional development goals that enhance their teaching. Such pursuits could take various forms, including but not limited to chemical education research, the creative use and implementation of new technologies or advancing outreach efforts or local partnerships that benefit the department and the university as a whole.

All application materials should be sent via email to chemsearch@georgetown.edu. Applications should include a cover letter summarizing the candidate’s professional experiences and goals as they pertain to this position, a CV, a proposed syllabus for a new non-science majors course, along with separate 1-page teaching and diversity statements. Please arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to chemsearch@georgetown.edu.

Potential applicants with questions can contact Prof. Jennifer Swift (jas2@georgetown.edu). Review of completed applications will be done on a rolling basis and continue until the position is filled.

Georgetown University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff.  All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation), disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
