Postdoctoral fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry

A postdoctoral fellowship in medicinal chemistry is available in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Lee to perform structure-based drug design and synthesis of drug candidates as part of an interdisciplinary research team.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and an interest in medicinal chemistry.  The candidate will be responsible for the design and synthesis of targeted compound sets using emerging structure-activity relationships that consider both target and drug metabolism factors.  Experience in natural product synthesis, antibiotics, computer-aided drug design, fragment-based drug design, LC-MS, and NMR analysis would be advantageous.  The successful candidate must be an effective communicator and team player, keep an accurate notebook and maintain a safe working environment.

Postdoctoral trainees in the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics have access to outstanding facilities for inhibitor discovery, including access to large chemical screening libraries; analytical chemistry and ADME support; high throughput and biophysical screening capabilities; high-resolution structural biology, including crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, cryo-electron microscopy.  Each fellow has in lab access to a dedicated fume hood and rotavap, electronic notebook, Biotage flash chromatography systems, state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, NMR, and UPLC-MS.

Eligibility: A recent PhD. in organic, chemical biology or medicinal chemistry is required. The successful applicant will be a good communicator in oral and written English with a track record of publication in top chemistry journals and a proven record of chemical synthesis.
