Towards a lower carbon footprint for the chemical industry. 

We need your help and expertise! 

Maastricht University is looking for chemical and process engineers to explore, develop and apply technologies to enable the energy transition of the chemical industry. 

We are looking for Ambitious Professors (rank associate professor or full professor) in the general areas of circular engineering and sustainable technology who want to help shape this new initiative and build out new research groups at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus.

  • You are drawn to interdisciplinary research and education and enjoy working on current and future climate challenges in your research. You are prepared to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus.
  • Your research area and background focus on chemical and/or process engineering with an interest in the development of new technology which can transform the chemical industry. Areas of interests may amongst others include challenges in feedstock, plastic recycling, electrification, carbon capture, new reactor technology, gasification and process optimisation.
  • You enjoy teaching engineering courses and skills and have a strong educational track record enabling you to contribute to the development of new Maastricht University Engineering bachelor’s and master’s programmes.


You have:

  • A relevant PHD degree with postdoc experience in a relevant area
  • A drive to build and develop new technologies and share those with our students
  • Managerial experience
  • An excellent track record in scholarship and research funding
