The Chemistry Department at Hillsdale College invites applications for a full-time visiting assistant professor position in physical chemistry.  This one-year position, with the possibility of renewal, begins August 2019 and requires passionate commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.  Teaching responsibilities include the physical chemistry course sequence along with associated laboratory sections, with the possibility to be involved in other courses depending on the candidate’s interests.  The opportunity exists to mentor undergraduate thesis research projects, but this is not required.  Hillsdale is a thriving, collegial, ACS-approved department with outstanding students and facilities.  Each year we graduate 15-25 majors in chemistry and biochemistry.

Review of applications will begin on April 1, 2019, and will continue until the position is filled.  Ph.D. or A.B.D. in chemistry is required.  Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, a brief statement describing your teaching experience and philosophy, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.  Applicants should familiarize themselves with the college’s Mission Statement (https://www.hillsdale.edu/about/mission/) and include in their letters a response to the mission, addressing their interest and ability to teach in light of its commitments.  All materials should be submitted to Matthew Young at myoung@hillsdale.edu.

For additional information see the chemistry web page at https://www.hillsdale.edu/majors-minors/chemistry/.  Hillsdale College, founded in 1844, is a selective, independent, four-year liberal arts college of 1,400 students.  Hillsdale has traditionally upheld two concepts:  academic excellence and institutional independence.  EOE
