Job Details

The University of Pikeville is seeking applicants for a full-time, nine-month faculty appointment in the field of Chemistry starting August 2019. The focus of the position will be to teach  general chemistry and physical chemistry.  Rank and salary will be based on qualifications.  Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching in a small university setting and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning. 

The successful applicant will be a have a doctorate in chemistry and is prepared to teach a variety of courses that are part of the University’s course offerings in Chemistry.  Teaching responsibilities may include general chemistry, general chemistry lab, physical chemistry, and other upper-level classes in the applicant’s field of interest. While most classes are offered face-to-face, the University does offer classes through other modalities including hybrid and fully online. Faculty may have part of their teaching load assigned to these other modalities. This position also requires advising students, providing service to the University community, assisting with departmental activities, and continuing scholarly growth and development.  A doctorate in chemistry is required.  Applicants with ABD status and within one year of completion will also be considered.  Undergraduate teaching experience is desired.
