Materials Analysis Laboratory Associate
Hyperion Materials & Technologies is seeking a Materials Analysis Laboratory Associate to support manufacturing operations with reliable routine and non-routine analyses using advanced chemical, microstructural and mechanical tools.

Key Performance Areas
- Responsibilities: Develop, validate, and document new analytical procedures in accordance with 6 Sigma and ISO 9001 requirements. Candidate must take personal ownership of manufacturing in-process measurements and actively contribute to method development. This includes:
- Support production with contaminant, particle size, surface area, and shape analyses. Prepare samples, calibrate, operate analytical equipment such as ICP, SEM, PSD, and BET surface area.
- Prepare samples, analyze microstructures, measure mechanical properties of composite materials for supporting production and process development.
- Work independently for routine analyses by scheduling and cycle time reduction.
- Maintain equipment procedures and calibration database meeting industrial standard requirements.
- Develop new test and analytical methods to meet existing business and new product requirements.
Candidate Qualifications:
- BS in chemistry, chemical engineering, or material science. 0-3 years in an industrial testing environment;
- Demonstrated analytical laboratory skills with a history of quick learning, technique development and accountability;
- Energetic contributor to cross-functional teams demonstrating expertise through strong oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to schedule and deliver on multiple tasks;
- Familiarity of statistical quality control tools. Computer skills for automated data collection, office tools, and math skills for data reduction; and
- A strong safety focus demonstrated in actions and safety record.
Position Requirements / Work Environment:
- Work location is at the US headquarters in Worthington, OH (suburb of Columbus);
- Core work hours are for the afternoon shift from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with schedule flexibility and subject to extended hours (including some weekends);
- Ability to walk (up-to 30% of work day) and stand in laboratory and chemical environments for extended periods;
- Ability to sit for extensive periods at PC and/or other Analytical Instruments to conduct work which requires reading, typing, writing;
- Ability to move safely throughout lab and plant and wear personal protective gear as required.
