The Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of Heidelberg University is seeking a

W1 Junior Professor with tenure track (W3) for Organic Chemistry

The successful candidate will cover the area of Organic Chemistry in a research field connected to the Cluster of Excellence ‘3D Matter Made to Order‘. The candidate should cover the full spectrum of organic chemistry in teaching and academic self-government. Teaching, oral examinations and administration will be conducted in German. The research focus of the candidate is on a current topic of Organic Materials with structuring on the micro- and nanoscale. Active participation within the cluster ‘3D Matter Made to Order‘ is required. Participation in prospective collaborative research centers is expected.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree (in accordance with Article 51 of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg), a completed doctorate (with excellent grade) as well as pedagogic skills, generally acquired by teaching courses given at universities. Acquisition of third-party funding is desired.

The junior professorship position is a temporary qualification position as an academic employee. Therefore, in accordance to Article 51 of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the sum of prior academic employments (including the time of pursuing the PhD) should be less than six years.

The position (W1) itself is limited to six years. After positive evaluation, the Junior Professorship will become a tenured W3 position (full professorship). Provided that the general legal (German civil service law) and budgetary regulations are fulfilled, it is intended that the employment will have civil service status.
