Job Details

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Program at Plymouth State University invites application for a Teaching Faculty position in Biochemistry to commence in August of 2019. There is potential opportunity for this position to convert to a tenure-track line. This is a full time, 9-month, benefited, non-tenure track position, renewable annually based on performance and need, promotion eligible. The teaching load is 15-16 credit hours per semester, which will be reallocated to mentoring research students and overseeing a research program.

We seek a dynamic and experienced educator with expertise in Biochemistry, who will be able to develop a robust research program involving undergraduate students. Priority will be given to candidates with experience using innovative pedagogical methodologies, and who have demonstrated teaching and research excellence in a primarily undergraduate setting.

Our B.S. Biochemistry degree was recently introduced and is growing rapidly. We are seeking a full-time faculty member to teach biochemistry and other courses needed by the program, including General Chemistry, as well as to mentor undergraduate students in biochemistry research projects.

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Program at Plymouth State University is a small undergraduate program that emphasizes teaching and strong mentoring of students. As a small program, we are considering innovative ways of teaching our upper-level courses based on a modular, student driven, integrated approach. We are particularly interested in candidates, who would be excited to join our team and would bring innovative ideas to this endeavor.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Biochemistry, General Chemistry, and other chemistry courses as required, possibly including general education courses. Develop an undergraduate-focused research program and mentor undergraduate students through their required senior research projects. Engage in service activities to the department, clusters, and university.
