Postdoctoral fellow

The Laboratory of Bacterial Polysaccharides has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow with experience in chemical biology, to develop approaches to improve the specificity of conjugation in the preparation of glycoconjugate vaccines. The Laboratory of Bacterial Polysaccharides, is a part of the Division of Bacterial, Parasitic, and Allergic Products at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research on the campus of Food and Drug Administration in Silver Spring, MD. The goal of the Laboratory is to create and evaluate technology that advance the manufacturing process and improve the regulation of glycoconjugate vaccines.

The position will focus on the use enzymatic and recombinant methods to target specific sites of conjugation on the carrier protein of glycoconjugate vaccines. Thus, the applicant should have a PhD in biochemistry or a related field with experience working with enzymes. A working knowledge of basic organic synthesis is helpful but not essential. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
