Associate Professor / Assistant Professor

Applicants should have a PhD degree in chemistry. All research areas will be considered.

The appointee will (a) teach undergraduate and postgraduate chemistry courses including advanced courses in his/her specialty; (b) conduct/supervise undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes; (c) capitalize on the well-established infrastructure in the Department for independent research in his/her field of expertise; (d) serve as research supervisor of postgraduate students enrolled in MPhil/PhD programmes; and (e) participate in the administration of the Department.

The Department is prepared to provide the appointee with a suitable start-up fund for his/her research. Opportunities are available in Hong Kong for annual application of research funding on a competitive basis.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to 3 years initially commencing August 2019, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Applications will be considered on a continuing basis until the post is filled.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, plus a 15% contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer. Annual salary ranges from HK$834,000 to HK$1,055,340 for Assistant Professor, and HK$1,055,340 to HK$1,345,920 (US$1 = HK$7.8) for Associate Professor. The terms mentioned herein are for reference only and are subject to revision by the University.
