Auriga Polymers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Indorama Ventures PLC is seeking an Applications Development Scientist to join our global Innovation Research and New Business Development group. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with demonstrated capabilities and strong communication skills. This position would be located in Spartanburg, SC.
The Naphthalate Applications Development Scientist will be responsible for developing new NDC (dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) based polymers and applications in support of Indorama Ventures' new business strategic and overall objectives.
Responsibilities / Job Requirements:
-Develop engineered polymers, fibers and film formulations for markets and applications leveraging NDC and related monomers and polymers
-Apply fundamental polyester insights and know how to Naphthalate polymers and their analogs and new engineered polyesters to meet customer and market demands
-Work closely with product development partner and their customers technical and operations teams
-Design, execute and analyze applications trials to develop fundamental value proposition and material and process requirements
-Captures and processes IP opportunities to protect technology and competitive advantage
-Manages relationships and confidential information under agreements between competing customers and development partners
-Supports knowledge capture and organizational knowledge growth via effective data summaries, reports, and presentations
-Follows all guidelines of the Corporate and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies by consistently performing high quality work while minimizing waste generation
Education/Skills/ Experience:
-Masters in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, or similar technical field. Ph.D. highly desirable
-High proficiency in polymer chemistry fundamentals, with experience in the morphology of polymers.
-Demonstrated ability to use structure-property relationships and materials response behaviors to problem-solve
-Strong working knowledge and experience with polymer analytical and characterization methods
-Record of successful product and technology commercialization
-Economic thinking and ability to challenge the status quo
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Effective working across functions and geographies
-Ability to effectively manage work and work schedules to support overall program objective
-Ability to travel 50%
