The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-track/tenure position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to begin August 2020. We seek outstanding scholar-teachers dedicated to excellence in the chemical and biochemical sciences. The department, an American Chemical Society (ACS)-approved program, has a strong and proven reputation for educating and training women of African-descent to excel in STEM fields. The successful applicant will have a doctorate in chemistry or a related area and prepared to teach courses at the undergraduate level in at least one or more of the traditional subdisciplinary areas of chemistry as identified by the ACS: Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, or Physical Chemistry. The position also requires contributing effectively to curriculum development efforts, advising and mentoring students, providing service to the department and college, and establishing a competitive and highly productive undergraduate research program. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.

Spelman College seeks teacher/scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and to the continued enhancement of the academic environment for students and colleagues. Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. All tenure-track candidates are expected to have a demonstrated interest in liberal arts and sciences education, contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching, assist in curriculum development, provide service to the department and College, as well as be active in scholarly, creative, and/or research productivity appropriate to a liberal arts environment.
