The Forest Products Laboratory (USDA, U.S. Forest Service) is seeking applicants to fill a full time, salaried position of Project Leader for the Fiber and Chemical Sciences Research Work Unit. The Research Work Unit conducts research in wood chemistry and investigates wood applications in pulping and paper, biorefinery and biochemicals, and cellulose nanomaterials. The position is multidisciplinary, accepting applicants with degrees in chemical sciences or engineering, but preferentially with a research background in one of the research topic areas of the unit. Candidates should have experience in research related to chemistry of woody biomass and interest in managing a multidisciplinary scientific and technical workforce. Candidates should have an advanced degree or equivalent in experience, in chemistry or engineering. Specialization in biomass chemistry and/or chemical products is preferred.
