Medicinal Chemist

Job Description

The medicinal chemistry team in the Therapeutic Development Branch (TDB) at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) seeks a highly motivated medicinal chemist with broad drug discovery experience and strong problem-solving skills in organic and medicinal chemistry. The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team with the goal of identifying clinical candidates to address unmet medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Designs and synthesizes compounds for SAR and SPR studies
• Presents results in internal and external meetings
• Contributes to writing of reports and manuscripts
• Works collaboratively across functions

Qualifications

• Master or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry with a minimum of two years’ experience in drug discovery
• Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex synthetic schemes
• Familiarity with structure-activity and structure-property relationship
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written); must be able to interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team
