An exciting postdoc opportunity is available in the Xiao laboratory in the Department of Chemical Physiology and Biochemistry, Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). We invite outstanding applicants for an open postdoc research associate position in the emerging area of cancer chemical biology. The Xiao lab is deeply interested in developing innovative small molecule probes to target nuclear proteins to modulate transcription and DNA repair processes implicated in the cancer development and therapy resistance (e.g. ACS Chem. Biol.201813, 1380; ACS Cent. Sci.20184, 1201). Our goal is to develop novel chemical tools to glean the biological insights into cancer biology and develop the chemical tools into potential cancer therapeutics. For more information, please visit https://www.ohsu.edu/school-of-medicine/physiology-and-pharmacology/xiao-lab.

The individual will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team of research investigators with expertise in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, target identification/validation, in vitro and in vivo cancer pharmacology. S/he will learn from both chemists and biologists to understand the biology using chemical tools. The ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team environment is essential. The candidate is expected to design and synthesize different small molecules and evaluate them in different biological settings. The candidate must be capable of analyzing the data generated and writing up the results into appropriate report and manuscript form for peer-reviewed publications. We provide ample opportunities for the individual’s career development including scientific writing, presenting and other professional development. A recent Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or other related discipline is required. Evidence of documented research productivity in the graduate school is required. Salary will be competitive at the NIH scale ($50,004 and up) and this position comes with full OHSU benefit. Highly motivated individuals should send their current CV and names and contact information of three references to: Professor Xiangshu Xiao, Ph.D. by email xiaoxi@ohsu.edu. OHSU is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution.
