Tenure Track Faculty Position:  Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development

at Clark Atlanta University

Applicants are invited to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level at the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development (CCRTD) located at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). CCRTD is the University-wide Center of Excellence dedicated to basic and translational research, training of new generation of cancer scientists, community outreach and education with a purpose of eliminating prostate cancer health disparities. As a consequence of targeted recruitment of faculty and staff over the past 12 years, CCRTD is currently one of the largest centers in the nation with a unique and singularly focused comprehensive program to combat prostate cancer. Current faculty have expertise in the areas of cell and molecular biology with a focus on understanding intracellular mechanisms that are involved in the development and progression of prostate cancer during different stages of the disease. These studies are geared towards identification of intracellular mechanisms which may be used as drug targets for the treatment of the disease. In this new phase of its development, CCRTD is recruiting scientists with expertise in drug discovery and delivery to target the above mechanisms. As a first step in this direction, we are recruiting an experienced investigator with drug discovery and delivery expertise who will play a significant role in this effort. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, cheminformatics, in silico drug-design or a related field with significant experience in synthesis and characterization of small molecular weight compounds to target intracellular pathways involved in cancer development and progression. The candidate is expected to have a federally-funded research program in his/her area of research. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and generous start-up funds.

Applications or nominations with curriculum vitae, list of 5 references and statement of research interests should be submitted to: Dr. Shafiq A. Khan, Ph.D., Director, Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development, Clark Atlanta University, 223 James P. Brawley Drive, SW, Atlanta, GA 30314 or via to skhan@cau.edu. The review of applications will start on March 1, 2019 until the position is filled.
